Euro Paper Talk: Liverpool battle trio for €50m midfield star; Cavani linked with Man Utd

Liverpool are battling for a Serie A star while Manchester United and Chelsea are set to do battle for a Uruguay star, according to Friday’s European papers.

LIVERPOOL FACE FIGHT FOR SERIE A STARLET

Liverpool are battling three Serie A clubs in the race to sign young Cagliari star, according to the latest reports.

TransferMarketWeb state that 21-year-old Nicolo Barella – currently on a deal with Cagliari until June 2022 – is being tracked by Juventus, Inter Milan, and AS Roma.

Reports earlier in the week suggested that Liverpool and Juventus have been warned that Barella will not come cheap.

The midfielder is being watched by a number of Europe’s top clubs after a fine season and has been compared to Roma star Radja Nainggolan, according to the Cagliari president Tommaso Giulini.

However, it would appear that the 21-year-old will not be going anywhere for the time being after the Serie A club insisted it would take a bid of around €50million (£44.6million) to persuade them to consider his departure.

Giulini said: “For us, Nicolo is a modern midfielder and could be worth as much as €50million. He can play in any role.

“We think that Barella can become as good as anyone in his position, though his growth is not yet complete.”

PREM DUO BATTLE FOR WANT-AWAY PSG MAN

Manchester United and Chelsea are both in the race to sign PSG star Edinson Cavani this summer, a report from France claims.

Le Parisien states that the Uruguay international has become increasingly frustrated with life at PSG since the arrival of Neymar and is subsequently plotting his exit.

They claim that he no longer feels at home, and that PSG would be willing to sell the 31-year-old for a price of €60m (£53m).

United and Chelsea are aware of his availability and both are interested in the former Napoli man, who also has suitors in Spain.

It is believes that the LaLiga champions are lining up a move for Bayern star Robert Lewandowski after he decided to team up with super-agent Pini Zahavi.
